I RAN OUT OF TIME

Image
Okay, I'm super short on time this week, so I am using voice-to-text to write this message. Forgive my errors.  Some highlights  - At the beginning of this week, we had the opportunity to go to San Salvador to get my visa, as well as visit the temple. The spirit was so strong, and the temple here is beautiful. It was so cool to start understanding Spanish in the temple, too! - A family in our ward invited us over to make papusas. It was super fun, and their little daughter taught me how to draw a butterfly. - One of our friends named Sussette, when she heard that I hadn't tried Garobo (Iguana), made some for us! It tastes like chicken. - Exchange with Elder Barrios - We taught Sunday School! The teacher hadn't had time this week to prepare. But Come Follow Me study paid off!  - I was listening to songs from the children's songbook as we planned the week, and I Wiggle came on. It gave me flashbacks back to Primary in Fremont. -We had a really cool experience this ...

The Gospel is Easy

Everything is going well in San Miguel. This upcoming month, it is supposed to rain. And apparently, here it rains a lot. A couple of highlights: - I did my first door contact in English! - The Hymn: How Great the Wisdom and the Love is amazing. Go listen to it again! - I taught the first vision to some of our young friends using a deck of cards and a little bit of magic - We are going to San Salvador this evening and to the temple tomorrow!  I want to share an experience we had this week while teaching a friend. We had just finished a lesson about faith and how we come to know truth through prayer. We asked our friend, who previously had a baptismal date that had expired, about her thoughts on baptism. She said she didn't know if churches, let alone ours, were an important part of worship, and while she liked meeting with the missionaries, she didn't have a testimony of our church. I then asked her, "Have you prayed, asking God if what we teach is true?"   She ex...

A Marvelous Work and a Wonder

G ood evening, everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I am short on time today, so I apologize if this is a little rushed. But everything is going so well here. This week was not very out of the ordinary, but I loved every second of it. Elder Wallace and I have been working hard and have seen many tender mercies as we are privileged to meet more children of God. A couple of highlights: - There was a ward baptism this week, and we invited all of our friends! No one came, but that's ok. The Spirit was so strong I'm sure they could feel it from home.   - After a long day, we sat down to call a reference, and after talking for a little bit, he asked when and where the church was, and where he could buy a Book of Mormon! We told him and helped him download the book on his phone. - We ate some awesome pupusas (as always), and now we have a meal calendar, so we hope to get closer to all the members. - Everyone here is so kind, and I love the culture of saying hello to everyone you...

"When He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold" - Job 23:10

I have been in El Salvador for officially over 1 month! And it has been a journey. But I have very much learned that if I trust in my Lord, He will raise me up. Our first transfer was a short one. So we had transfers yesterday. I am staying in this area with my trainer! Wooo. Not much has happened, just working hard! There are so many youth in this ward who want to follow the Savior! Oftentimes, the only thing that is keeping them from baptism is disapproval from their parents. But the most important thing we can do is minister and help them know they belong! I must be honest, this week was really hard. Between the heat, long days, and stress of missionary life, I have learned some very important truths. A common thing that I am coming to learn about mission life is that you learn, are tested, and grow every single day. With more stress on a muscle comes more damage. And with damage comes pain. Ultimately, with time, the muscle heals and is stronger than before. Inevitably, there is no...
